The Risk Management department at Sierra Vista Regional Health Center functions in conjunction with the Safety, Security, and Quality Departments.
Risk Management is a management function aimed at the identification, evaluation and treatment of risks that could result in loss. It is both a concurrent and retrospective process. The goal of risk management is to create an awareness of possible risks that are potentially harmful to patients, visitors, or employees as well as expose any financial threats. Quality of care is the primary focus, but the risk manager is also responsible for identification of problems in the following:
* destruction of property
* dishonesty of employees
* injury to visitors
* liability of directors and officers
* vehicle and equipment liability
* medical staff credentialing
* communication with patients and their families
Loss prevention is the key focus of the SVRHC Risk Management Department. The department functions under the leadership of a Director, a manager and a part time assistant. CNA HealthPro's consultants provide extensive support in identifying potential liabilities and developing preventive strategies. Also, there are several law firms available for consultations.
