Here at Sierra Vista Regional Health Center, we have special group of people that give their time and energy with a beautiful smile. That special group is our Volunteers and Auxiliary members who make a difference to our hospital everyday.
Auxiliary
The Sierra Vista Regional Health Center Auxiliary, founded in 1976, focuses on the needs of the hospital and community by providing us with equipment and programs via money raised through the Gift Shop, bake sales, and various charitable events. The Auxiliary meets once a month in a general meeting to discuss upcoming events and work on current projects. Many of the Auxiliary members also work in departments of the hospital while being involved with the Auxiliary program. Through their gracious efforts, they have provided the following, which is a small portion of their contributions:
Modern Birthing Chairs
Children's Play Cubes
Instant HealthLine
Radiology Equipment
Blood Bank Refrigerator
Portable Sonogram Equipment
Lab Analyzer
Pulmonary Function Analyzer
The Auxiliary also provides scholarships to students in our area who wish to pursue a career in the medical field. In addition to students, they also provide scholarships for employees who plan on furthering their education in the medical field.

Since the first Candlelight Ball in 1987, this annual event has grown to be one of the most talked about events of the year. Occurring each year in March, everyone waits with baited breath to see what the Hospital Auxiliary have in store for their guests.
This event is known for its spectacular decorations and ambience. Guests, decked out in formal wear, start their evening with Las Vegas style gambling while enjoying cocktails and hors d'oeuvres. During this time, a Silent Auction is also taking place with fabulous prizes on display, generously donated by local businesses and individuals. Guests' winnings can be used toward the purchase of these prizes.
When dinner is served, guests are treated to a feast that can compete with most five star restaurants. After dinner, everyone can partake in dancing with music provided by a wonderful local band.
All in all, this is the most elaborate social function of the year in Sierra Vista!

When you buy from our Gift Shop you also help your community. Our Volunteer staff help keep our operating costs low. We utilize Volunteers in most of the departments here at the hospital who average about 1000 hours per month. These areas include the clinical departments such as Maternal/Child, Med/Surg, ICU/Tele, Emergency Department, and Rehabilitation Services. Our Volunteers work closely with our nursing staff and technicians to lend assistance wherever needed. They help greet patients and family members, answer phones, stock small supplies, create packets, help with charts, and take items to patient rooms such as flowers or mail. Because of liability, Volunteers are not allowed to administer any type of patient care.
Our non-clinical departments include, Medical Records, Client Services, Human Resources, Patient Accounts, and Nutrition & Food Services. Our Volunteers help out by making copies, data entry, putting together packets, answering phones, covering the office for meetings, and making files and doing food preparation.
Potential Volunteers and Auxiliary members need to complete a two-hour mandatory training before being able to work anywhere in the hospital. We request that all volunteers do a minimum of four hours per month in order to remain active in our program. There's no feeling like the good feeling you get from helping others. If you would like to become involved in our Volunteer or Auxiliary programs, please contact Sharrina Cook-General at 520-417-3153 or Autumn Kaldahl Hospice at 520-417-3082.
