Overseeing building maintenance and expansion projects and ensuring the security of our staff, physicians, and patients, the dedicated personnel on our Physical Plant and Security teams play a vital role in hospital operations.
Physical Plant
In a hospital, something as simple as replacing a door or as complicated as a remodeling project, requires strict supervision and compliance with infection control standards and Joint Commission guidelines.
A few of the responsibilities of our Physical Plant department include:
- Answer such questions as what is being done, where it is being done, and what precisely will be needed for completion and compliance during regular maintenance and construction projects.
- Ensure proper functioning of the Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning system during normal usage and its isolation during construction projects.
- Maintain HEPA and negative air pressure rooms and filtration units, when required.
- Ensure cross-contamination does not occur during maintenance and construction projects.
- Conduct regular checks of the fire alarm and generator systems.
- Conduct staff training and attend continuing education regarding local, state, federal, Joint Commission, and infection control guidelines and regulations.
