Functional Capacity Evaluation (FCE) is a process of assessing your physical capacities and functional abilities. A Functional Capacity Evaluation:
- Establishes
the physical level of work you can perform
- Useful in determining job placement, job accommodation, or return to work
after injury or illness.
- Determines extent of impairments or degree of physical disability for compensation
purposes
- Predicts potential ability to perform work following acute rehabilitation
or a work-hardening or work-conditioning program
- Assesses your flexibility, strength, balance, coordination, cardiovascular
condition, and body mechanics
Our Work Conditioning Program offers the injured worker an exercise-based program focusing on restoring function and return to work. Goals include:
- Improving physical
strength, endurance, flexibility, stability, and motor control
- Improving independence in self-management of injury
- Promote timely and safe return to work
- Avoidance of further injury
Treatments include:
- Cardiovascular
training
- Muscular strengthening
- Range of motion restoration
- Work simulation
- Education about body mechanics, causes of injury, sources of pain, fitness,
and nutrition
