Tai Chi and Meditation

Every Monday at 6:00 PM

Cost - $5 per session

 

Sierra Vista Regional Health Center’s Wellness Depot provides a Tai Chi and Meditation class every Monday at 6:00 PM beginning January 2nd. Tai Chi simply, is about relaxation.  It is a specific kind of relaxation which is different from relaxing while you are lying on the couch. This first 8 week course will introduce new students to tai chi principles, learning about structure, unified movement, and the components of a tai chi body. There will be an emphasis on health in this first 8 week course. Training focus will be on breathing, finding the center. Mental focus will also be developed as students build up stamina and concentration.First Class Free! Then the cost for the classes is $5 per session.

Help with Medicare Tuesday, January 31st 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM

A topic of major concern for most Americans is the cost of health care. Federally funded programs like Medicare and Medicaid seem complex and uncertain to many people and it’s important to understand the role of these government sponsored programs as you investigate other funding strategies that are available to help you meet your future medical expenses. In order to assist seniors SEAGO Area Agency on Aging and Sierra Vista Regional Center’s Wellness Depot will provide “Help with Medicare” appointments on Tuesday, January 31st from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM. An insurance counselor will be available to answer your question on Medicare regulations, insurance benefits, and other relevant insurance products. Advance Directives: Life Care Planning

Sierra Vista Regional Health Center’s Wellness Depot in the Mall at Sierra Vista will provide information about “Advance Directives: Life Care Planning” on Tuesday, January 31st at 1:00 PM. At this presentation you learn about what Advance Directives are and its importance in your healthcare planning. Making decisions about your healthcare now will ensure your wishes are known in the future. There will be directives available to fill out at this presentation.

Take Heart: Women and Heart Disease

Friday, February 3rd

In support of the “Go Red For Women” campaign and the fight against heart disease which is the number one killer of women in America, Sierra Vista Regional Health Center’s Wellness Depot will present an informational talk titled “Take Heart: Women and Heart Disease” on Friday, February 3rd at 1:00 PM. You will learn more about the “MYTHS” and “FACTS” concerning women and heart disease. Topics discussed will include knowing the symptoms women experience when they are having a heart attack and learning about living healthy to prevent heart disease.

 Adult Hearing Loss Support Group

Every First Monday of the Month

11:00 am -12 noon

Sierra Vista Regional Health Center’s Wellness Depot and the Adult Loss of Hearing Association (ALOHA) will provide an Adult Hearing Loss Support Group meeting on Monday, February 6th. The support group meets at the Depot located in The Mall at Sierra Vista the first Monday of every month from 11:00 a.m. to noon.The mission of ALOHA is to provide a support system for individuals with an acquired deafness and/or hearing loss and their families. ALOHA also offers peer support, advocacy, information and training for individuals with a hearing loss which will enable them to improve their quality of life. Metabolic Syndrom: What is it?

Sierra Vista Regional Health Center’s Wellness Depot will offer information concerning “Metabolic Syndrome: What is It?” on Tuesday, February 7th at 10:00 AM.  We will discuss what is a Metabolic Syndrome and how does it increase the potential onset for chronic diseases? The development of certain metabolic risk factors raises the risk for significant health problems, such as diabetes and heart disease. Discuss different health definitions for Metabolic Syndrome and review the Metabolic Risk Factors. Learn how you can help delay or prevent the onset of chronic diseases with progressive lifestyle changes.

Sugar Blues

Wednesday, February 8th

Sierra Vista Regional Health Center‘s Wellness Depot will be presenting an informational talk on “Sugar Blues.” Are you the type of person who has cravings for sweets?  Do you have low energy in the middle of the day?  If so, then this “Sugar Blues” workshop will be a turning point in your life. If you are ready to have more energy, fewer cravings and take back control of your life, then you don’t want to miss this. Jennifer Churella, CHHC and a nutrition counselor has designed this class to permanently change your relationship with sugar. You will leave this class understanding the causes of your sugar cravings and you’ll receive practical tools for dealing with them.            

It’s not about deprivation, it’s about freedom – the freedom to eat foods you love and have sweetness in your life without the side effects or the guilt. This presentation will be held on Wednesday, February 8th at 1:00 PM at the Wellness Depot.

 Heart Saving CT Scanning

In support of American Heart Month, Sierra Vista Regional Health Center’s Wellness Depot will offer information about “Heart Saving CT Scanning” on Thursday, February 9th at 1:00 PM.  Each year, more than 1.5 million Americans suffer from a heart attack. SVRHC offers non-invasive diagnostic tests to evaluate your risk of developing coronary heart disease. Join Jerry Valdez from the hospital’s Diagnostic Imaging department to find out more about these life saving radiology procedures.

Prenatal Nutrition

Friday, February 17th

Sierra Vista Regional Health Center’s Wellness Depot and the University of Arizona Cochise County Cooperative Extension will present an informational talk on “Prenatal Nutrition” on Friday, February 17th at 10:00 AM at the Wellness Depot. This nutrition class will include the pregnancy food guide, special nutrient needs for the pregnant mother, healthy habits for a healthy baby, food safety, and much more.

FREE Mall Walking program

Did you know that the Sierra Vista Mall opens it’s door at 6:00 AM to allow for Mall Walking? Did you know that if you walk all of the inside perimeter of the Mall that you have walked 1/2 mile? Join your neighbors and walk in a safe, climate controlled environment. Free step pedometer given out at the Wellness Depot.

 

Congestive Heart Failure Class

First Thursday of Every Month

2:00 pm to 3:00 pm

 

A free Congestive Heart Failure (CHF) class will be the first Thursday of each month, from   2:00-3:00 PM. Join us as our Resident Physicians and Dietitians at Sierra Vista Regional Health Center teach us about what CHF is and how to “Live Well” with CHF. This class is for anyone dealing with CHF to include patients, family members, or caregivers. The purpose of this class is to provide answers to questions you may have regarding your condition, medications, diet, exercise and what to do if your symptoms worsen & when to call your physician. There will be a question and answer session at the end of the class.

 

Breast Feeding Support Group

Every 2nd and Fourth Monday of the Month

9:00 am to 10:30 am

New mothers can benefit from the network of friends. These support groups are offered twice a month and are facilitated by one of our lactation experts. During the meetings, you can share experiences with other mothers and discuss specific topics of interest. Children are welcome.

 

Postpartum Wellness Support  Group                                                                       

Every 2nd and 4th Tuesday                                                                                                         

10:00 am to 11:00 am

 The Postpartum Wellness Support Group will meet the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of every month from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. Women who are pregnant or recently gave birth can benefit from a supportive environment to address issues adjusting to the challenges of pregnancy and motherhood. This support group is facilitated by specially trained staff at Sierra Vista Regional Health Center. During the meetings, you can share experiences with other mothers and discuss specific topics of interest. You are encouraged to bring your babies.

Zumba Gold for Beginners

Every Monday at 8:00 AM

Cost $5 per class; first class FREE!

 

Join Debbie Aponte, a licensed Zumba® instructor who will break down the steps to the Zumba Latin rhythm songs in a relaxed and slow paced atmosphere. Zumba® Gold for Beginners is a forum to create, bond, and change not only the body but the lives of the participants. First class is FREE!

Zumba® program fuses hypnotic Latin rhythms and easy-to-follow moves to create a one-of-a-kind fitness program. Zumba® Fanatics achieve long-term benefits while experiencing an absolute blast in one exciting hour of calorie-burning, body-energizing, awe-inspiring movements meant to engage and captivate for life!   Due to the lack of secured space and supervision we are not able to accommodate children, it is for the safety of both students and children.  Join Raquel Foreman, a licensed Zumba® instructor; Zumba® mixes hypnotic Latin rhythms and easy to follow moves to create a dynamic exercise fitness program. This class will also include Zumba Toning, a blend of body-sculpturing techniques and specific Zumba moves into one calorie-burning, strength-training class. Zumba® can burn up to 1,000 calories per class. It’s not a workout, it’s a party! First class is FREE!

 

Chair Yoga Class

Every Monday at 2:00 PM

$6 per class session

 

 Chair yoga classes are held every Wednesday morning at 9:30 am. Marcia Galleher, Registered Yoga Teacher welcomes students of all ages and levels to participate in the weekly chair yoga classes. Reap the benefits of Hatha yoga through the postures, breathing techniques and meditation. The chair yoga classes are gentle and invigorating, designed to increase mobility, improve breathing, develop strength, flexibility, balance, and to cultivate a positive mental attitude of well-being.  Classes are $6 per session.

  

  

KIGONG CLASS

Every Thursday at 10 AM

$8 per session

 Join Mrs. Thomas, a Kigong teacher since 2007, to learn the benefits of Kigong. Kigong is an ancient way of strengthening your body’s energy. In its most basic form, Kigong is a preventative health and wellness practice. It is a collection of simple movements and is a “no impact” activity.  Recharge your energy and improve your internal strength, harmony, and balance while you strengthen your immune system and improve your health.

             

This class is great for beginners, seniors, the disabled, those recovering from injury and illness, those who want to strengthen their body’s energy, and athletes as well. Class is $8 per session with your first class FREE.

Every Friday at 2:30 PM to 4:30 PM

FREE Blood Pressure checks offered every Friday at 2:30 to 4:30 PM except on the first Friday of the month. On the first Friday of the month, the screenings will be offered from 8:30 to 10:30 AM
